I've been doing the same thing on Twitter, but I'm wondering how much is too much. A lot of the people following me are fellow Etsy sellers too, and some of them are constantly tweeting their new items. It gets a little annoying -- I don't want to be that person? How often do you all think it's OK to tweet an item for sale?

I've also been looking for places to post items that are more populated by potential buyers, rather than sellers. For example, I am on Livejournal (not for promo purposes; it's my personal journal) and I joined some communities that allow for-sale posts and that seem to cater to people who might like the stuff I make. I posted my etsy mini there. I don't think I got sales out of it, but my views did go way up, and when you're as new to Etsy as I am, I think that's half the battle, getting people to just look at your stuff.

Question, how do you add someone elses mini to your blog?

That's what I'm thinking HC.  Just need to tell them how many rows and columns I guess.

Gosh, this was hard to find!!!  I've been taking new pictures and adding intems today finally, I seem to live in the forums and chat (hate that)  I have stuff on facebook, my space and just seem to live at this computer.  Help me!!!

Anyway regarding twitter, the best advice is to keep your shop name and address on your profile and connect twitter to your flickr account if you have pictures of your products on there.  the first lot of pictures will show up on twitter as your background so people can see your work.

Dont just list your items constantly, i know it puts me off seeing stores which just list items all the time, and most customers wont appreciate it especially when the aim of twitter is as a social networking site.  So network, which is easier said than done I know!!  I was and still am really bad at the small talk type thing.  but i now log onto twitter when something has happened, something has made me smile, or annoyed me, or a song i like that i wanted to share etc!  the other day i had a lovely facial so i twittered that!

and dont just add other etsy sellers, because they want to sell too!

do searches for things that maybe connect to your item that ordinary people on twitter might bet alking about. and add them.  can be quite random, read some peoples profiles, and see if they fit your customer base.  mine is generally women, from mid 20's to 30's so i added a bunch of people in that kind of group just randomly, and they added me back.  do this avery few days, dont just post your items, talk about something your made, rather than 10 posts only with links to items.  if you add one link to soemthing and someone likes what they see, likely chances are they will look around your store anyway since they already made that click!

Still can't work out how to make my flickr background one of my photos though. Need to look into that one as it would be very useful.

Vintagecottage, if you haven't done so already, you may want to consider creating a fan page on Facebook.  It's really easy to do and it's free.  Also, for those of you with fan pages already, they have opened up the personalized address for pages with under 100 fans.  It's hit or miss, but I got mine and I don't have 100 fans yet.  That way you can give a link directly to your page (like in my signature).

Added DoBatsEatCats to my blog via the mini script and it worked fine.  I just asked her to convo it to me.  I plan on featuring a new etsian on my blog every week.  Probably only members of this board. Want to reward the enthusiasm.  If anyone wants to add my mini, let me know.

violavintage, i thought i'd saved the link on how to connect flickr and twitter, but i cant seem to find it:S...spent the last half hour looking through old threads but cants seem to find it there either.

I told you I was new to this, I forgot half the post.  What I have been doing is giving cards out to everyone with the shop address on it.  I'm also doing a few craft shows and have made up fliers with the address on them. Put a bunch of cards in the hair salon and nail place. I guess I do things the old fashion way but I'm learning.
