Your pictures are beautiful and your prices seem reasonable.

Re: Need critiques? Ask here!

I really want to know what you guys think about this listing. What do you think about the item itself? Is it something you would purchase?

Re: Need critiques? Ask here!

Christy,

I love this! I have seen a few other towels designed as items on other sites. This would be a really great housewarming gift! Play that up in your listing.

Also the text in your listing is difficult to read. Make sure you break up your text into 1-2 sentence chunks based on topic. Buyers are in a rush and have limited patience.

Hope this helps!

Re: Need critiques? Ask here!

Thanks Elisha! I've been thinking about re-doing that item listing anyways

Re: Need critiques? Ask here!

Christy, that towel arrangement is super cute!  What a great housewarming gift!!

I'm in the process of redoing my photos.  Can you take a look at some of the new items I've listed to see if this style of photo looks better than what I have (so I know if I should keep going in the direction or not.

Re: Need critiques? Ask here!

I love your items. I think some of the photos are a little fuzzy. Use up all your tags. Expand on your titles.  These are some of the things I understand are important. Good luck.

Re: Need critiques? Ask here!

Rose,

Your jewelry is beautiful.  I had a couple thoughts.  (take them or leave them I haven't had any sales either)

Shop descriptions:  They are clever and worded beautifully, but after having read a bit about how google yahoo etc. finds you, you might want to start the descriptions (and even the names of the items) with the name of the actual thing.  For example necklace beaded with....  That way your stuff is more likely to come up on a google search.  Other than that I like the descriptions.  Definitely include personal info (nearer the end) if you actually picked up the materials in your travels.

Also, you might want to get a clearer rose for your banner.  It looks pixleated (is that a word?).  Maybe take a photo of your favorite rose?

Hope this helps.

Christl

Re: Need critiques? Ask here!

Ok I figured if I critique I must be critiqued.  Please be brutally honest.  I have had no sales to date.  I'm optimistic as I have had offers of consignment.  Not to excuse the no sales but I realize that a) my stuff is on the expensive end of things and b) this is definitely cold weather gear and at least here it's not cold yet.

Let me have it.

Re: Need critiques? Ask here!

fiberpuppy-I do agree...your stuff is a bit spendy...I love it...wish i could buy something...but just can't afford a luxury like that. Beyond that...i'm not a scarf person It is getting cold in other places, my girlfriend in WA state said it was 50 degrees today...so it's getting closer to that winter weather. Most of your pictures are pretty good...there are a couple though that I see some issues with.

This one.
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=30592662
You have the black back drop behind it...but then I see part of your yard to the side. Another thing I could suggest is ironing your backdrop to get rid of the wrinkles...that's a bit of a turn off for me. you need to have your background be smooth.

This picture I really dig
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=30929443
I think it fits in well with the hat itself and I like the natural feel overall it works well for you

One thing that someone gave me as some advice was to change where it says your shop name under your banner to something snappy that describes what's in your shop. Check mine out if you're unsure what i'm referring to.

I can also say that I would love to see you change up your shop announcement. It's a bit dry for me.

"Felted wool accessories for sale. Welcome to Fiberpuppy! Come on in and browse. Fiberpuppy offers unique handmade felted accessories. All items are knit with love out of natural fibers."

you could put something like:

Welcome to Fiberpuppy Designs, we specialize in unique handmade natural fiber items. We carry a number of different felted wool accesories that would be sure to keep you warm on those cold winter days, or even spice up that special outfit. I hand knit everything with love and pay attention to every detail to make sure that every creation is one of a kind!

Use that if you want...change it...I don't care I just wanted to give you an idea of what you could say differently. I hope this helps you out

Re: Need critiques? Ask here!

Ok...so I changed up my washcloth flower pot a bit....I added some silk daisies and other greenery to it so that if the person chose to take apart the washcloths that they wouldn't just have an empty pot and washcloths left. LOL Let me know what you guys think

Perfect improvement.  I still think this is the best hostess gift.  Both pretty and practical.

Re: Need critiques? Ask here!

ooooh! I like the red one! I love how simple and pretty it is

Re: Need critiques? Ask here!

Rose, I like the red one, too. I also like how you show it on 2 different backgrounds. Can you get even more of a close-up of it? Can you show it being worn?

Fibrepuppy... I *love* your stuff, and like Christy, if I had the money, I'd buy something in a heartbeat. I particularly love your octopus scarf and frog hat.

A couple thoughts...

can you add some lower priced items like little ipod pouches or coin purses? Something to get you at least in the $30 range?

can you get someone to model your items? I've read that showing clothing/accessories on people is best.

have you scoped out your better-selling competition? What are they doing that's different?

have you joined a team dedicated to felting/accessories/fashion? have you joined Ravelry?

are you recycling old sweaters to make any of this? if so, promote that! upcycling/recycling is hot hot hot!

I also agree you need to change your shop announcement to better suit the SEO. I'm working on that myself.

Oh, I also think a real close up, where you can see the fuzz of the wool would be great.

HTH!

Re: Need critiques? Ask here!

Thanks everyone for the critiques!  I'm planning on working on the shop announcement etc. and photos.  I also just got a shipment of wholesale yarn, so I hope to be able to sell some stuff at a more modest price.

I also got some other feedback in the forums re: photos and using a model/mannequin.  I am actually off to a mannequin warehouse for a liquidation sale.  They are selling torsos for $25.  I may have to take pictures to post on the blog.  I can't imagine what a mannequin warehouse looks like.

I think it would be super odd to be in a warehouse full of mannequin parts LOL Seeing all sorts of body parts just chillin around hahah

Re: Need critiques? Ask here!

I'd love some constructive critisim also, we've only had 2 sales in the time on etsy.  Since August.  I feel like the shop has enough in it and maybe the prices are too high or too low??  I just don't know.

Re: Need critiques? Ask here!

Imturnedart.

OMG  Your stuff is absolutely beautiful.  Is it local wood??  You might add that somewhere if so.  Also,  etsy is kind of dominated by women artists.  You might want to leverage the fact that some of the stuff was male created.  I know I have seen stuff in the forums asking for male etsyians  (for blogs interviews etc)  That is if you can tear him away from the shop.  You gotta use all angles you have.  Do you blog or post on etsy forums?

I was also told that you should use all 14 tags that you have for each and every item, even if you have to get creative.  I think somewhere here on the forum (Etsy links maybe)  there is a post about tag generation.

No big deal, but here is a small typo in your shop announcement re: shipping overseas.

Other than that the stuff is beautiful, the photos are great.  (hey can I get you to photo my stuff Just kidding)

Hope that helps.

Welcome aboard!!
