Consignment
Does any body have any items currently on consignment? I got contacted by a shop owner (actually 2) but she wants one of my books to sell, and will charge me 30% of the sale price. She was going to send me a contract too. I am not sure if i should. How do you trust someone? Has anybody ever benefited from consignment?

I haven't been approached with a consignment request so I don't really know how that whole thing works. check her feedback and see if anyone has left anything about doing a consignment with her. Just a thought

Personally, I might negotiate the 30% commission. It seems rather high just for her to store your book on a shelf and then all she does is ring up the sale. What would be your profit if she takes 30%---is it worth it for you? If 30% is the average fee, I don't think I'd be interested in consignment shops-- I would do it for 15% though.

Have you tried posting about this on the Etsy forums or done a search on this there? Your work is really unique so I'd hate for you to pass up an opportunity if it really is a good one. I know nothing about consignment of this type (just selling used baby clothes!), so I can't help unfortunately. But I'll be very interested to hear what other say.
