I have to admit I'm feeling overwhelmed with information. Even though my shop has only been open for a week, I was researching things for months before that. Not only do I enjoy making things, but I *really* need this shop to be successful. I can't find a job, my mother got laid off (we live with her) and my husband only makes so much money!! ;)
So I researched the marketing side of things a lot. But a lot of it I couldn't implement until the shop was live, and now that it is, I feel like I'm drowning in information. I need to Twitter, blog, Facebook my own stuff and read and comment upon others. I need to try to get treasuries, start Stumbleupon, and do giveaways. Etc. Etc. Etc. Oh, and I have to live wire little boys on top of it all!
I'm not complaining. I like doing a lot of this. But I'm finding it hard to organize everything, especially the online aspect of it. I'm finding this very stressful because I'm a researcher by nature - I'm half way to a PhD! But all that research is on paper for the most part. Yet I'm not a novice to the online world at all!
So what I'm curious about is, how do you organize things? Do you have a folder of bookmarks that you check every day? Do you keep a notebook? What do you do?

I am excited to see what everyone has to say on this topic. I just made myself an advertising outline. First, I made a checklist for each new item listed. It has room to check off for pics, etsy, artfire, facebook, album on facebook, twitter, flickr, add to groups (flickr), etsy critique forum, etsy promo forum, let's ets/add to google base, and soop see.
I also have a daily/weekly checklist. Daily: Check treasure hunt website to see if treasury available, check heart o meter, check facebook fan page for photo comments, tweet something on twitter, contribute to the following forums: etsy, D listers, etsykids team, and flickr group.
The weekly checklist includes: adding atleast one listing, tweet blog update, and review google analytics (shop, soopsee, and blog).
I also have a binder with the following tabs: orders (sheet for custom orders with detail info), Listings (checklist and print out), sold (custom order detail sheet and invoice for etsy sales), to list, pattern tabs (so I can remember how I made the things that I have made).
Hope this helps, but I am really excited to hear what others have done. I feel very overwhelmed with all the information out there and all the places we could promote. I think joining a team is a good start.

i am the worst when it comes to organization. I honestly dont feel like theres enough hours in the day to do msot things!!
But i do have a list ofa favourites on my computer...my blog, my flickr, etsy d team forum, etsy itself, twitter etc all in a lsit so i know i need to check them and respond or do something with them.
I have a book which i keep all links, passwords and things. I also have sold orders and customised sizes in there.
I write down ideas i have but thats about it.
i really need to organize myself a little better. I've only just sorted out a work desk! i just used to sit onthe kitchen table! but i shifted and organized all beads, findigns and packaging into one area so i can work from there.
It is overwhelming, but it will become second anture soon....or so i hope!

Charissa- I do something similar to you, I have a notebook that I write alot in. I have my bookmarks specifically separated by folder. I need to get myself a little better organized in the aspect of tracking what i'm doing everyday, like tweeting, facebooking, posting in forums etc. I try my best to just keep track in my head but with everything i'm trying to do right now that kind of gets hard. Trying to keep up with you guys on the board and blogging and all that good stuff...man it really takes it out of me. I promised myself that I would try to contribute to the board as much as I can, and at the same time i'm trying to fill requests and stock the shop in the process.
I do at times feel i'm falling behind on stocking the shop but with two little girls (3 and 7 months) it's really hard for me to just sit down and get work done. The one downside on trying to work from home. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't have it any other way, but at the same time they don't always just give me the opportunity to just get to it. Part of the reason as to why i've been staying up til 2 or 3 in the morning lately, it's quiet and I don't have kids needing stuff.
I'm going to spend this next week working on my organization and time management.

I totally understand. Currently, I am student teaching and taking care of my three sons. It is a wild time, but so much fun!
Maybe a checklist with the advertising you think you should do with the days across the top, then you could check off it has been done and glance to see what is lagging. Just a thought.
Also, did you find the Etsy shop success that you bought to be helpful or have you found a lot of the information online. Thanks!

Thanks for the ideas, ladies! I'm glad to see I am not the only one feeling overwhelmed. I feel like I could spend all day on these sites promoting myself and end up not having time to actually make or list anything, hahaha.
mimisbabies, I am going to try your checklist idea. Not just to remind myself of what sites I should be promoting on, but also to set a limit-- I can't be the only one who has accidentally lost an hour to twitter!

The buyers guide I bought gave me some good info for sure. I've found alot online, and alot of things I didn't know about here on the message board. I really REALLY want to just email or post the sellers guide on here, but I purchased it from someone on Etsy and I feel that would be undermining their business. I don't feel that sharing tid bits is a bad thing but I think I would feel guilt if I just posted the whole thing. I started doing excel spreadsheets, I use them to figure cost vs profit for projects, expenses etc. I'm going to start a new one that's geared more towards being a checklist I think it'll help. So if you have a spreadsheet program, you could do the same thing. Once I get it put together I want to print it out and post it up near my workspace so I can check off my daily duties LOL I think if I have something right in my face that I see every day it'll remind me to do what needs to be done.

Did you buy from
(maybe those should also go under resources!)

yes that's her. Her stuff is amazing, if I hadn't bought the stuff I had from her I don't think I would be anywhere near where i'm at right now. she has a freebie on her blog right now for social networking stuff. i'm going to post all the links in the resources forum. But yes if any of you have the chance to buy stuff from businessminded.etsy.com do it, I did and I feel it was worth every penny.

I'm going to check out the networking guide right now. I'm struggling with facebook and twitter. So much to learn.

I haven't read through it yet myself. But I know Jordan's (businessminded) stuff is really cool. I love the stuff I picked up from her it helped me a ton On a positive note I got my excel spreadsheet with all of my daily duties on it and printed it out to put in my notebook. I set it up with each task going down as a column and each date going across the top and made it so I can just make a mark in the box for that day next to each thing.
