Just wondering if I am the only crazy crafter that leaves a trail of cards wherever I go...in shopping carts, in dressing rooms, on the message board at my grocery store, in taxis, on trains, on shelves in stores, etc...... I even put one in a box when I was returning something I bought online!
My second thought is....Why don't we all swap business cards for promo packs. I have been doing this with a few people I chat with regularly on Etsy and I also answer threads in the forums when shops request cards. Then when we get an order we can include each other's cards when we send out the order. I know of at least one sale I got this way because the buyer told me that is how she found me. I know I like when I get promo packs when I have bought something. The shops that request cards in the forums all say their customers like it too. Some people also put promo packs together to give out when they do craft fairs.
Any thought on this?

Sounds like fun to me!

Great ideas Steph. It's all about exposure and networking. I'd like to participate but I need to have cards created first. I created post card sized promo cards that have an order form on the back for local orders. I need to create a bus card size now. I'll exchange with you when those are done.

I thank that's a great. I something get a booklet in the mail with couopons in the mail for local merchants. We could try to incorporate that idea usuing Dlisters. I finally found something I can work on. Give me a few days to think, I have a cragt fair this weekend. I'm excited this could be good.

what are promo packs?

Hi chaadygirl!
Promo packs are a bunch of cards from different Etsy shops that are sent out with orders or handed out at craft fairs. The ones I have always received are in little plastic bags.

I'm definitely up for that. I do my own cards on the ink-jet printer, but that might get a bit costly so I'm going to re-evaluate that.
For those of you without a card, I'm pretty sure Etsy often runs deals with Moo.

That's a great idea. I would love to participate.
I actually just sent an re-order to Moo for minicards. I use these as tags on my items as well as business cards. It's really easy and you can actually upload photos from your etsy shop. I think they stand out as they are not standard business card size. I think they run about $20 for 100 cards.
I got a promo code for 15% off which may or may not still work but its worth a try. It is 2RB2CK

fiberpuppy, I love the mini cards! I get them at moo and zazzle....I punch a hole in the top of them and put a ribbon through so they can be used as bookamrks! Zazzle packs don't have as many but they have quantity discounts & sometimes you can use more than 1 coupon code on an order
Also, before you buy check
you type in a website & it gives you coupon codes that are out there....the site relies on consumers to add codes they comes across
If anyone wants to send me some cards to send out with my orders, convo me on Etsy & I will give you my address

Count me in! Today I went to our local county fair. I handed out business cards and told several people that they should try selling on Etsy. I also handed out a few cards of people that I've purchased items from here on Etsy. One of them was www.rosepetalsjewelry.etsy.com Her items are GORGEOUS!!! They are also very well made and she uses quality materials. Another one was www.amethystthreads.etsy.com This woman is a master seamstress! So please, count me in!

I'm in. I have a box of 250 cards I got from VistaPrint (for free, just paid S&H) and I've only handed out a few, mostly to family. I would love to be included in a promo pack!

Fun...what a great idea! I think that it is great that you throw them in shopping carts and dressing rooms, something to keep in mind. I just keep some in my purse and if I get a chance to slip it in the conversation I'm like "oh, actaully, I might have a business card on me"... It has work and I have given some out in craft stores.
I have also gotten mine on vistaprint. Can't beat that. Although I have heard some strange things from them.

I would be interested in doing a promo pack. I'll look back through and get a list of who wanted to be included and see what we can do to get this started!

Hi minisbabies,
I've been at a craft fair so was not able to respond, but I would like to be included. I have idea about this. We could make up a card, the front would say Dteam Directory. Then on the inside we would list participants. Ex. 1st line - Shop name 2nd line - what you sell 3rd line- etsy web site.
I think this would be more economical for everyone and anyone who didn't have cards could be included. They could be printed up on card stock. This card would be included with your package. I would be happy to make up the card. Any other thoughts?

Please add me too!
I got my cards from Vistaprint as well (free, just pay S&H) along with a TON of other free items (post cards, fridge magnets, car magnet, return address labels). So that's a great place to get some if you need them and don't want to spend a bunch of money. Plus, I'm always getting emails from them for other things they are offering free. It's a great way to get a bunch of promotional items and you can keep ordering the free business cards and other stuff to build up your marketing stash.
