Re: Post what you create here

Well, here at Whimsey Wabbit we are a mother and Daugher team( I'm the daughter). We both make similar and different things. We make so many different items, I don't know where to start. In general we make items with fabric, wood and wires and we usually paint on the fabric.  We both paint(acrylics, water colors, oils),cut wood (bird houses, signs, furniture),sew what ever we get our hands on. I also make jewelry(not on etsy).

Most of our items are original design dolls (which all come out different) like Scare crows for Halloween, bunnies, cats, pigs, french chefs. My mom (and sometimes myself) makes pillows that are quilted. We both make quilts. We love fall/halloween and Christmas so you will see lots of that from us. In  general we love creating new things and you never know what we may come up with.

About the only thing we don't know how to do is knit or crocet which I wish I did.

Me too! We have such great variety. At rhythmandhues we are currently making one style of fabric necklace, but planning to add a second kind with a detachable brooch soon. We're considering making some other fabric-based goodies, possibly some embroidered items, perhaps collage/mixed media stuff...pretty much whatever we can find the time for!

Hi Whimsey Wabbit - I love your shop name! Just thought I'd say 'hi' because I'm the daughter half of a mother/daughter team too! Love it!

Re: Post what you create here

I make Key Fobs.  I just started a litle over a year ago.  I have found it quite fun to put all of the different color combinations together.  I did make dog leashes and collars for a while, but I have to say those were the most frusterating things to put together.  Cute when I was finished with them, but drove me crazy in the process!!  I do make other little things alot the way, such as a custom order for someone for scrub hats a few weeks ago.  Made my bedspread a few months ago.  Never thought I would like being craft considering I was the "tomboy" growing up!

Sounds like everyone here is creative in their own way.

HI, I'm new here.  I make small woodworking projects. I especially like making toys, but also make scroll saw pictures and I have a really neat line of walking canes.

Corri,

I love the patterns on the key fobs.

Your toys are amazing.  That sewing machine might be the only one I'm qualified to use.

Re: Post what you create here

Oh Corri, I'm so sorry the dog collars didn't work out for you. I plan to buy a blue one for a large yellow lab for Christmas this year. I love the concept of your wrist keychains though. I'll be keeping those in mind when I want to buy something for myself.

There are getting to be so many threads, that I am having trouble keeping up with them. Maybe we already have one that's a buyer's wishlist. I think it might be inspirational to find out what other DListers want to buy.

We might also get inspiration from some DListers purchases from other sellers too. For instance, I bought a coupon holder that I love from someone on Etsy. They are selling like hotcakes too.

Re: Post what you create here

Inga, that's a great idea about having a wishlist.  That's why I wanted to have a list to see what everyone makes so I could see about potentially asking someone to make something if I can't find it in their shop.  Maybe we can start our own, internal sort of Alchemy thread where we post what we are looking for and whoever wants to create it can contact us.

Re: Post what you create here

I'm wondering if there isn't also some way to identify your specialty in your profile.  We could all self-identify what we do.  That way no one would have to create a complicated list.

I think the wishlist/alchemy forum is a great idea.  Maybe have 2 parts one for alchemy and another for wishlist/inspiring sites.  I can create this, but I'll wait to see if others have comments/suggestions.  We have a whole half of our team who are night owls.

Re: Post what you create here

I guess that I am a little different from most of you in that my shop is a supply shop. I sell vintage lace, buttons and lots of ephemera. Things for mixed media artists. I also carry some supplies for card makers, scrapbookers, journals such as large card stock die cuts, envelopes, ribbons, glitter.

I am going to open a handmade shop with my daughter but we don't have enough stock yet.

Re: Post what you create here

Welcome Vintage Carolina!!

Your items are great.  We have a lot of artist who would like to support a shop like yours!!  Actually you might be the first supplier here  (forgive me if I'm wrong).  Don't be shy we don't bite.  What kind of handmade things do you all make?

Re: Post what you create here

Hi Everyone!

I'm Trish.  I make tie-dye items.  I love to work with little Onesies most of all, but I do make youth-sized & adult-sized shirts too.

I currently "live" at my place of work, so I have zero time to post new items or make anything new.     BUT, when I finally do have time I'm going to redesign my Shop... I'll be taking all NEW photos and writing better descriptions.

Here is an example of a Twin set of Onesies I made:

Re: Post what you create here

FiberPuppy,
thanks for the welcome. Well, I am a fiend for vintage lace and ephemera so the things I make fall into those categories. I make fancy garters like for brides or parties, upcycle vintage lingerie to make slip dresses...little jackets or capelets. I make cards and gift tags with vintage images...not like all the printed ones from where people buy digital downloads but where I make prints from my own collages of vintage items.
Right now my supply shop is full of my destash of the things I use when I am crafting.

Re: Post what you create here

I do crochet, mostly little things...aka my shop name. Right now I'm focusing on sweet/desserts/ fake food items since last christmas my cupcakes rocked my world, so I'm going in that direction

Re: Post what you create here

Welcome Crochet little things.

JEDesigns posted something under Success Requests Sales  asking if any D-listers make fake food for Christmas presents for her kids.

You should convo or post to that listing.

Makes me think we might want to start our own alchemy type forum.

The good news on knitting is that there are only two stitches so you are halfway there!

Re: Post what you create here

Hi all-just joined the group-such a variety of talented crafters-
looking forward to popping into everyone's shop sooner or later.
I love to sew. I make aprons, tote bags, zip pouches, and other
sewn items (sew much fabric sew little time). Anyhow, thanks to
all you who worked so hard to get this group together. Good job.

Re: Post what you create here

I make all things gift bag related.  Custom designed for all types of events.  Weddings, baby showers, birthdays.  I am actually going to start marketing to Etsy sellers for their gift wrapping needs.

Any suggestions for how you guys gift wrap your products or if you would be interested in looking outside for your gift wrapping.  I would appreciate all ideas!

Thx!

Re: Post what you create here

I make lots of different things but the Etsy site is devoted to jewelry. I make sterling chain or chainmaille, polymer clay pieces, mixed media, felted beads, etc....I like to use hardwear, nuts and bolts in my jewelry too.
