twocatscreative, how old is your son? My middle son had food allergies and it was difficult, but now he has outgrown them. Feel free to email me if I can help.

i've been feeling like I haven't been doing much for the team lately...and I don't want that to fall through the cracks, but at the same time I need to understand that I can't spend 24/7 doing team stuff and that I need to do stuff for my shop otherwise it'll suffer. I've worked way too hard to let that happen! I finally photo'd my coffee basket which made me really happy since it's been sitting around for close to a week. I'm also really happy about the awesome feedback i've gotten from you guys about it

Suggestion: Create a thread with a to-do list for the dlisters and let people volunteer for certain tasks and list things some people are already doing. That way, we can take some of the stress off of you, and share in the responsibilities. That can also be the place we go to see what resources we create for ourselves as we go.
I'm feeling much better now and want to help. I can host a chat if you want.

Christy -- first, you are doing a LOT for the team, at least from where I sit. Also, I concur with soulstone -- I'm happy to help where needed but I admit I'm not totally up on the things that need to be done, or are already being done. I think a to-do list is a great idea.

Ok i'll try to get a to-do list together today and hopefully get it posted. I have to do some grocery shopping today and get a towel order mailed out to my mother in law otherwise i'm not crazy busy.

I'm down and just can't seem to get started for now I guess. I know everyone is trying to fill their shop and I'm just sitting here. I did take a few items to town and put them in the shop I do business with there, and after I got them all in and priced she told me she's having a storewide sale this weekend!!! 20% off the whole store so if I sell I'll maybe break even. We're working on some more pieces for the shop here and just waiting for sales. Think I'm going to start crocheting again. lol. I have some vintage things I'm thinking of putting in the shop....what do you think I should do????

Try not to get too discouraged. At least for me there was a big downer after the initial adrenalin rush of starting up.
Your stuff is soooo unique. I think it will sell for sure if you can just get it in front of the right people. Have you tried museum shops?? Seriously, I have not seen anything like your stuff.
BTW I'm still interested in getting some book origami just don't have the finances just yet. Makes me think though. What about targeting publishers. I showed the work to the author of the book I wanted origamied (is that a verb?). He was psyched and wanted to photograph it if I got it done. I've been trying to sell your work to my husband as sort of "thank you's" to high selling authors. Right now he's hearing nothing as he is off to Frankfurt Germany for the big book fair.
In any case it's ok to take a little break. Sometime's the inspiration comes when your least thinking of it.

You have to learn to DELEGATE. You did all the work setting things up. Now you can pass the baton to other members of the TEAM. That's what the word means. Group of people working together.
On another note, I will be busy getting ready for a 2 day craft show this week-end. Very exciting. I really enjoy the shows, getting to meet so many people and hearing their comments. Lets hope the weather holds up.

Anyone else a little burnt out? Since selling the majority of my inventory to a local store I have been crazy busy trying to restock. I have another shop that saw prior inventory and was interested as well. So now I basically have to restock 2X before I can get my etsy shop off vacation mode. I really really should not complain I know. But I am tired. I knit and felted 2 hats yesterday and 2 scarves and a sample child hat today. I think the thing that's bugging me the most is that I am basically re-creating what I've already done. I'm almost tired of cats. I want to try to make something new but thats on the back burner for now. Anyway please disregard my rant. I should wish these kind of problems on the rest of you who haven't had sales (well not the burn out part). Anyway I'm taking the night off (well not actually since I haven't cleaned since hubby left for Germany ). Errr did I even brush my teeth this morning? LOL

FP, go read my latest post ;-)
And... no one can have too many cats! (except for the crazy cat lady, which my husband swears I would be if I weren't married to him... he limits my cat ownership to 2)
Hang in there!

So he might consider the 10 we have outside too many? Just kidding. We live in the middle of nowhere and started with just 2 cats and it is amazing how they reproduce!

My daughter has 7 inside, unfortunately her husband is just as bad as she is.

I had one inside and it was too much with the kids. So he had to go out. It was a bit sad though because I bottlefed him. He is enjoying it outside though.

I only have the one cat, he's a handful sometimes but he's a kitten still. I have some fish...but that's never an issue LOL

Ok PMS bout over. Glass of wine, pizza and cheesy tv and I'm feeling cat love again. I wish I could have a cat. We will probably get one but my 13+ year old weimaraner (big dog) would probably keel over at the stress of a kitten. He's getting so batty that if he farts too loud he jumps up and looks all startled at the ground. LOL I wish I could capture that for America's funniest home videos.

Charissa, so sorry I missed this before. It's been a crazy week for me and I'm only now catching up on some of these threads.
My son is 3-1/2. He is allergic to dairy, eggs, soy, oats, rye, potatoes, tomatoes, tree nuts, and chicken! The good news is that these allergies are not life threatening. But they cause him GI problems and he is classified as Failure to Thrive because his weight is very low. That said, he's the most active, happy little boy!
Anyway, we have to keep him off all those foods for a year and we may be able to reintroduce them in a year or so.
Meanwhile, I'm struggling to make him things he'll eat!
So, aside from that, life has been a bit nuts for me. Tomorrow is above son's preschool day and I often get a fair bit done when he's out! So I'm hoping to get myself jump-started again.

I want to let you guys know that this week I might be missing in action...I'm working with my dad to set up a business structure and will be in and out of the house all week to go to meetings with him and his boss to sign papers and get things going. FYI my dad works for a company that sets up LLC's (limited liability corporation) and other corporate/non-corporate business structures and they're setting mine up for me for free Yeah I said it FREE! It normally costs about $500. And I found out today that my dad's boss is hooking it up as a bonus type thing to my dad since he's been kicking so much butt at the office lately, and as a favor to me since he knows me ( I used to work there). I'm really excited about this! It should really help me get some things that I need to progress forward with growing the shop.

Congrats Christy,
As an attny I've done that kind of thing before (for other people not myself). That's a good deal to get it for free!!! I guess you'll have to make him something extra nice.

Yeah I'm pretty excited about it. I know this isn't a cheap thing to have happen, and for my old boss to foot the bill is even cooler!

O my! I just looked at the t shirt/scarf vendor. Wowee! Too early in the morning to check out the vagina shop. I need another cup of coffee first. Cheers!

lol the boobie shop is hilarious. I mean really, she's selling scarves and womens shirts...focusing on your enormous boobs is not going to appeal to the female buyer.

Ok this is a tad-meanspirited since we all sell on Etsy, but have you checked out Regretsy? It's kind of like the worst of Etsy, but it is absolutely hilarious. I'm just afraid I'm going to see one of my things on there.
Check out this toy. It's actually nicely made its the theme that's wrong.

OMG dude Christl...i've been sitting here look at this for awhile....this...this one is just strange....and people have actually bought things from this person.
this picture makes me laugh a little but at the same time want to cry. Dude...how can this person have over 400 sales with photos like this.
and again with the vagina/uterus stuff....come on. seriously? I can't sell kitchen towels...but this person can sell underwear with uterus pictures on the front...what the hell?
ok and last but not least, why oh why would I want to wash bloody items in my washing machine. I"m already fairly disgusted by that time of the month, I most definately don't want to wash my pads and re use them.
*sigh* what are people thinking when they come up with this stuff. I just don't get it. seriously....

Christy, oh my! The lady with the clocks...couldn't she put down the cigarette for one minute to take a picture? Sheesh!
I don't understand how some things sell like hotcakes and other, "normal" things don't sell. I guess we just need to come up with some kind of kitch or "unique" way to use our normal products. Maybe your towels can double as earrings. A little large, but useful if you go to a sappy movie and need a hanky!

LOL no kidding...it's like damn...can't you put that thing down for like 10 secs while you take photos...or better yet...just don't be in the photo HAHA!
Yeah, I like having these towels in my diaper bag. I usually hang one on the stroller Maybe I need to start including that kind of usage in my descriptions.
